Follow THE HERDS at museums and galleries across the UK

Take part in an epic journey this spring. Join in activities at museums and galleries inspired by THE HERDS, a climate action project which will see life-size puppet animals sweep through the UK.
From April to August 2025, herds of life-size puppet animals will stampede into cities across Africa and Europe to flee climate disaster.
THE HERDS is the new project by the creators of The Walk, which saw Little Amal, a 12-foot-tall puppet of a Syrian refugee girl, travel from Turkey to the UK.
THE HERDS have begun their journey and travelled through Kinshasha, Lagos, Dakar, Marrakesh, Casablanca and Rabat. They’ve floated on boats in Makoko and rampaged through traffic in Dakar, starting their 20,000km journey from Kinshasa to the Arctic circle. They'll continue through Madrid, Marseille, Venice, Paris, London and Manchester, then travel further north to Copenhagen, Aarhus and Stockholm before the finale in Trondheim.
You can follow the animals' journey on social using the hashtag #THEHERDS, and get involved in activities and events at museums and galleries across the UK inspired by their journey.

Activities and events
Museums and galleries across the UK have been getting involved in THE HERDS by hosting workshops and events – making puppets, curating nature walks, and inviting local communities to come together to explore, learn and appreciate local nature, and the challenges it faces in the face of the climate emergency.
Over 40 museums, galleries and historic houses are taking part, so you’ll be able to find something fun and family-friendly to enjoy.
