Join the ClayMakers for a unique experience sculpting clay in response to a life model.

This workshop will explore the human figure through various ceramic construction techniques. The activity will breakdown the human figure into its most primal of shapes through first hand observation. This exploration will enable you to further understand rhythm and structure of the body through abstraction.

The first half of this workshop will focus on reductive methods of making, where you will sculpt by removing material from a block of clay to create fluid forms. The second half will look at additive processes using slabs of clay to create geometric configurations.

By the end you will have produced two maquettes, small models made in clay. ClayMakers Luke and Bryony will invite you to select one of your maquettes to be fired and finished at stoneware temperatures in order to preserve them for life. After firing, your maquette will be available to collect from Henry Moore Studios & Gardens at a later date. If you are unable to return at a later date, you will be able to take both of your unfired maquettes away on the day.

This session is suitable for adults and young people aged 16+. Entry is £3 per person, plus the cost of an Annual Ticket to Henry Moore Studios & Gardens.
