Join us for the Italian Studies Library Group 2024 Mario Casalini Lecture, led by Dr Christopher Adams, Assistant Curator at the Estorick Collection.
Italian Futurism is perhaps best known today for its achievements in the sphere of the visual arts, yet it was initially a literary tendency, launched by the poet Filippo Tommaso Marinetti in 1909. This lecture will trace the evolution of Futurism through its myriad literary theories, exploring concepts and genres such as parole in libertà, aeropoetry, ‘synthetic’ prose and poesia visuale. Works by the movement’s iconoclastic founder will be considered alongside those of other, less familiar, figures including Fortunato Depero, Piero Bellanova, Tullio Crali and Carlo Belloli.
The event is organised in partnership with ISLG, with the support of Casalini Libri.
The event will start at 18.30 with doors opening at 18.00.
Attendance is free, but tickets must be booked in advance.
