Contemporary artist tackles war, conflict and violence.
Discover new works by contemporary artist Cathy Wilkes, who has responded to themes of war and conflict for 14-18 NOW Legacy Fund, a national artist commissioning programme led by Imperial Warm Museums.
Wilkes' work encompasses both abstraction and intense social realism, employing everyday domestic materials to explore profound experiences that cannot be expressed in words of images. For this ambitious new commission, Wilkes is drawing upon her childhood in Northern Ireland, and histories and experiences of violence that official war documents and representations are unable to capture.
