Explore five decades of iconic political protest art.
Taking over three galleries within the former Whitechapel Library space, Archive of Dissent marks one of the most extensive displays of Peter Kennard, a leading political artist in the UK.
Inspired by the work of artists such as John Heartfield, who pioneered photomontage as a political tool, Kennard has produced some of the most iconic and influential protest images using the technique of montage since the 1970s, touching on everything from the Vietnam War, Anti-Apartheid Movement, Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND), and Stop the War Coalition campaigns in the 2000s.
