Witness Sonia Boyce's exploration of interaction, participation and improvisation in art, inspired by Lygia Clark's pioneering practice.
An Awkward Relation is conceived by Sonia Boyce to complement the concurrent display of Lygia Clark's work. The show takes an experiential approach, and features rare and significant works exploring interaction, participation, and improvisation. Furthermore, a dedicated section pairs a selection of works by each artist at the the intersection of their practice, reflecting their distinct artistic, geographical, and socio-political contexts.
Key pieces include investigations into hair as a material and cultural symbol, and the multimedia installation from 2017, We move in her way.
