Meet Grayson Perry's fictionalised persona of an heiress in crisis.
The largest contemporary exhibition ever held at the Wallace Collection, Grayson Perry: Delusions of Grandeur will include ceramics, tapestries, furniture and collage, displayed in a museum that has inspired him throughout his life.
For this exhibition, Perry has created a fictional persona, Shirley Smith, who wakes up in Hertford House after a mental health crisis and believes herself to be the rightful heir to the museum’s collection. Marvel at 40 new works of art by Perry alongside the collection's masterpieces that have inspired him, drawing upon wide-ranging techniques, genres and forms, and that interrogate ideas of craft-making and perfectionism.
