Delve into Chinese history and identity through Renee So's sculptures.
Contemporary sculptor Renee So explores her relationship with Chinese history and identity through sculptural and ceramic works, highlighting the trade of goods and ideas between China and the West, and how western preconceptions and stereotypes have distorted these narratives.
Marvel at new and existing works by the Hong Kong-born artist, that playfully tell dark histories, such as luxury perfume bottles renamed 'Opium' and ceramic snuff bottles shaped like large lemons. Don't miss the centrepiece of the exhibition: a 'magic mirror' that reimagine popular mirrors from the Han (206 BC – 24 AD) and Song (960-1279AD) Dynasties.
