East Quay
With a National Art Pass you get
In Somerset’s harbourside town of Watchet, East Quay is a pioneering arts venue offering galleries, studios, a restaurant and stunning coastal views.
This cultural hub comprises two contemporary art galleries, 11 artist studios, a paper mill, a geology workshop, a print studio, a restaurant, an education space and five bespoke accommodation pods.
It was founded in 2013 by Onion Collective, a grassroots group of local women who convinced the council to let them develop the site after plans for luxury flats fell through. Through ambitious action, they raised £5.3m from the Coastal Communities Fund, allowing them to open this innovative community-focused space in 2021.
