Architectural gem
The Grade I listed house was completed in 1792. It designed as a luxurious country retreat for the Governor of the Bank of England at the time, Godfrey Thornton, The architect, Sir John Soane, was known for his work on the Bank of England, he also designed the Dulwich Picture Gallery, interiors at 10 & 11 Downing Street, and 12 & 13 Lincoln's Inn Fields, in London, which is now the Sir John Soane's Museum. Take a guided tour and look inside the restored house Tours are twice a week during the summer months, booking essential.
Explore the grounds
Humphrey Repton, a pioneer in the English landscape movement, sculpted the park's grounds into a masterpiece of design. You can explore the Grade II listed gardens, wander through peaceful woodlands, or marvel at the impressive walled garden all year round.
