Dedicated to promoting artists living and working in Wales, MOMA is a hub of modern and contemporary art, in the Powys market town of Machynlleth.

MOMA Machynlleth, or the Museum of Modern Art, is a vibrant arts hub nestled within the charming town of Machynlleth, Wales. Housed inside a converted chapel, there are an impressive seven galleries and the Tabernacle Concert Hall to explore, offering a unique blend of visual and performing arts experiences.

What to see?

MOMA Machynlleth champions modern Welsh art, showcasing the works of established and emerging Welsh talents. Notable artists whose works grace The evolving Tabernacle Collection contains over 400 works and concentrates largely on artists living and working in Wales in the 20th and 21st centuries. These include fine artists Annie Ovenden and Brenda Chamberlain, landscape painters Gladys Vasey, Gwilym Pritchard and Kyffin Williams and mixed media artist Ruth Jên Evans.

Always something new

The gallery’s seven exhibition spaces features rotating exhibitions, ensuring there’s always something new to discover. From captivating paintings and sculptures to photography and thought-provoking installations, MOMA Machynlleth provides a platform for Welsh voices to be heard in the contemporary art world.

Cultural events

Converted into a performance space in the mid-1980s, the adjoining Tabernacle is a performing arts centre, hosting a variety of concerts, theatrical productions, and cultural events.
