The museum regularly hosts temporary exhibitions showcasing specific themes or collections and interactive displays and hands-on activities make the museum a great place to visit with children.

Explore diverse collections

The museum houses a wide range of exhibits, themed around archaeology, natural history, fine art, and social history, and spread over six galleries. See a huge array of objects from Swansea, Wales and further afield, from an Egyptian Mummy to a Welsh Kitchen.

Discover the Pontoon

This floating museum in the Marina features exhibits related to the city's maritime heritage. Two of the museum’s boats are kept floating in Swansea Marina, the lightship Helwick, and a tugboat called Canning.

Visit the Tramshed

The museum also runs the Tramshed in the marina. Opening times are dependent on volunteer availability, so you’d be well advised to call ahead. If it is open you will find memorabilia from the street trams of Swansea and the Mumbles train. plus you can and climb inside to the top deck of the last surviving part of a Mumbles tram from the 1960s.
