The Golden Hinde
With a National Art Pass you get
Discover more about Sir Francis Drake's circumnavigation of the world at The Golden Hinde, a historic ship docked at London Bridge.
The Golden Hinde represents a rare chance to form an impression of what life might have been like aboard a 16th-century ship. Its own adventures offer unique insights into the challenges faced by Elizabethan seafarers. It was constructed in Appledore, Devon by skilled shipwrights and craftspeople using traditional techniques and materials. Since its launch in 1973, it’s completed a circumnavigation and sailed over 100,000 miles.
Docked right next to London Bridge and Borough Market, you can hop aboard this historic vessel and explore Elizabethan history at sea. Events include fascinating history sessions, opportunities to meet the ship’s crew and performances.
