Art Funded by you

Chinese colour prints

Unknown artist, 17th century

5 elaborate woodcuts of fruit, flowers and still lifes printed in as many as 22 colours to add to a set already in the British Museum as part of the Sloane Collection. The set already in the museum had, up to 1907, been in a large volume lettered on the back E. MSS Kaempfer, presumably bought by Kaempfer in Japan before 1692, when he left the East.
