Cyril Kenneth Bird 'Fougasse', 1940

© The artist's estate

Eight original designs for the 'Careless Talk Costs Lives' poster campaign. The designs are close in appearance to the issued posters and show the development of the final slogan which started as 'Careless Talk May Cost Us All Dear'. The campaign revolutionised official propaganda by using humour.
