Large bowl made from blown glass, resting on hollow ribbed knop, with a plain foot. Decorated with white threads in a variety of patterns using the Venetian technique known as 'vetro a fili' or 'vetro a retorti'. The goblet is an extremely rare survival, made for the luxury market, and possibly intended for display to demonstrate the owner's wealth and taste rather than for use.
