Art Funded by you
Early Medieval skillet
Unknown artist, 7th or 8th century

This vessel was probably used in baptism ceremonies and dates from the same period when Anglo Saxon England was slowly becoming Christianised. This object represents the beginning of the process of Christianisation on the Isle of Wight and is the earliest example of the Christian church's religious tools.
