Plymouth was one of eight museums to win a share of £75,000 to buy their selected object thanks to Art Fund Collect, an initiative in collaboration with the Crafts Council aimed at championing contemporary craft and increasing its presence in UK collections. This crinkling vessel-shaped form by the Japanese artist Takeyama has an asymmetric shape, cobalt blue colour and finishing touch of hand-painted flecks of silver leaf. The Art Fund presented another work by Takeyama to Birmingham at Art Fund Collect 2011.
