There is something almost philosophical about Michael Marriott's lamps, as though Wittgenstein had gone shopping for timber and electrical components. The shades are the one quirky feature: for the standard lamp, a sheet torn from an old masonic ledger; for the table lamp, you attach a postcard of your choice to the clothes peg provided. Part of a group of three gifts to five museums by Marina Vaizey through the Art Fund between 1995 and 2003.
