Art Fund members will be able to watch the film Painting the Modern Garden: Monet to Matisse online for free, as we continue our partnership with Exhibition on Screen.

Members are invited to an exclusive online screening from 14-17 June.

Based on the critically acclaimed 2016 exhibition at the Royal Academy in London, which featured work by Monet and Matisse as well as Van Gogh, Pissarro and Sargent, the film Painting the Modern Garden takes viewers on a journey from the gallery to the gardens the artists loved.

Guided by passionate curators, artists and garden enthusiasts, viewers will see a remarkable collection of work by a range of Impressionist, Post-Impressionist and avant-garde artists of the early 20th century, as well as the gardens of Giverny, Seebüll and others.

Showcasing an exhibition described by the Guardian as 'a ravishing joy from start to finish', the film also reveals how artists built their own gardens to explore colour, design and utopian ideas, and looks at the rise of the modern garden in popular culture.
