The set is a fine example of the collaborative work of SwanseaÂ’s finest artists; Thomas Pardoe, gilder and William Weston Young, enameller. At this time Pardoe was well established as the principle decorator of flowers, fruit and oriental designs at Swansea. The importance of this set lies in the 12 painted vignettes, they show documentary, topographical views of Swansea and the surrounding area. Some of the identifiable images illustrate notable houses and buildings previously unrecorded, others are awaiting research. The completeness and rarity of the shapes is also significant is that there is only one other Swansea pottery cabaret set known.
