This tin-glazed earthenware plate was made in Brislington, near Bristol, in 1689. The plate is painted in blue on a white glaze with the initials W over IB within a wreath. The border design of leaf motifs links
it to chargers bearing royal portraits. Bristol Museum & Art Gallery contains what may be the largest delftware collection in Britain, possibly the world. This plate has been on loan to the museum since 1973 and now joins the permanent collection.
