Sutherland shows Carn Llwyd, the site of a prehistoric settlement in Pembrokeshire, Wales.
Sutherland was born in London and studied at Goldsmiths College. He worked as an official artist during the Second World War. The Welsh landscape had a profound influence on Sutherland’s work, particularly the romantic scenery of Pembrokeshire. This sketch now becomes part of the substantial holdings of the artist’s work at National Museum Wales.
