Her bold, colourful ceramics were inspired by ancient pottery and natural forms. She and her husband, the critic and painter Adrian Stokes, had many celebrated friends in the art world and customers for her ceramics included the historian Ernst Gombrich and philosopher Richard Wollheim. This group of Stokes’ works, including three dinner plates and a ceramic mirror frame, now joins the significant collection of modern British art at Swindon Museum and Art Gallery.
