Lancelot Ribeiro was born in India in 1933 and moved to London in 1950.

He took classes at St Martin’s School of Art and eventually settled in Belsize Park, close to Hampstead, where Burgh House is located. Many of Ribeiro’s large, semi-abstract paintings were inspired by the local area, reflecting the architecture of London and the landscape of nearby Hampstead Heath. He exhibited at Burgh House in his lifetime and this painting now joins the collection there.

Provenance
