The Madonna, and the child on her knee, are both full front, seated on a stone throne of Renaissance design.

The child holds a bunch of grapes. In the background a cherub and a seraph kneel to the right and left of the throne, the two below sit on the throne steps playing lutes. A modern gilded arch cuts the sides of the throne. The central panel of an altarpiece for the Carmine Pisa but it was removed by 1750 and the parts dispersed.
