Scenes from the story of Damon and Thyrsus.

A piece of furniture but perhaps part of a case for a musical instrument. The subject has been identified as the second eclogue of the Ferrarese poet, Tebaldeo, which occurs in the Venetian edition of his works printed in 1502. 1) Damon laments his Unrequited Love, 2) Thyrsis asks Damon the Cause of His Grief, 3) Damon takes his Life, 4) Thyrsis finds the Body of Damon. 4 Paintings painted on two panels.
