The King, attended by two pages, kneels before the bishop of Chartres who places the crown upon his head.
Behind him stand two cardinals, while two secular attendants, holding the 'main-de-justice; and the sceptre, wait on the right. A study for an unexecuted commission to produce a companion series to the series on Marie De Medici's life.
