This talk will delve deeper into the allure of ancient Egyptian jewellery, considering all aspects of design and construction.
Ancient Egyptian jewellery had a huge impact on the advancement of stone-cutting and other jewellery-making technologies. As we approach the 2022 centenary of the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb, examples of the spectacular jewellery from this find will be chosen to shed light on or raise questions about some of these factors.
The talk will also explore in practical terms how motifs complying with formal Egyptian iconography might be combined and translated into goldwork.
The talk will be held online via Zoom. Ticket entry is by Give What You Can donations welcome, in partnership with Friends Of Macclesfield Museums.
