Sainsbury Centre presents a selection of paintings, sculptures, drawings and photography in the first UK exhibition of Japanese-Swiss artist, Leiko Ikemura.
Spanning three decades of Ikemura's career, the exhibition’s dominant theme is connectivity to all aspects of nature, be it human, animal, plant or mineral, in an eternal circle of life.
She explores vulnerability and gradual evolutionary change through fantastical figures and primeval landscapes – addressing issues surrounding the environment from an empathetic, global perspective.
The exhibition has been developed in collaboration with the Sainsbury Institute to coincide with the Japan-UK Season of Culture.
