George Gordon Byron Cooper (1850-1933) painted a series of over 100 works entitled Tennyson’s Country, some of which will be on display in this exhibition.
Cooper depicted many locations featured in Tennyson’s works, from Cornwall to Haslemere, and endeavoured to capture the emotions aroused by the great poet’s words.
