Commissioned by ironmaster William Crawshay II, Cyfarthfa Castle is the most impressive monument of the industrial Iron Age in South Wales.
The collections cover Merthyr's rich social and industrial history. There are also ceramics, Egyptology, natural history and an art collection including works by Penry Williams, the 'Welsh Turner'.
