In each workshop we explore the story behind a beautifully crafted object in the Museum’s collection and how it helps us tell the story of Richmond, and use the object as inspiration for a craft project based on the object and the skills needed to create it. No experience needed - absolute beginners very welcome.
These workshops are 'donate what you can' to help us keep them open to as many people as possible.
Booking essential as places are limited.
Workshops are held at the Museum, between 1pm to 3:30pm on the following dates in 2025:
Wednesday 22 and Saturday 25 January: Beading inspired by a pair of Edwardian Wedding Shoes
Wednesday 19 and Saturday 22 February: Fabric Block Printing inspired by a Printed Tea Towel
Wednesday 19 and Saturday 22 March: Crochet Flowers inspired by a Vintage Leaflet
Wednesday 16 and Saturday 19 April: Basket Making inspired by Dolls House Miniatures
Wednesday 14 and Saturday 17 May: Lace Knitting inspired by a Lambrequin (a short piece of decorative drapery)
Wednesday 11 and Saturday 14 June: Fabric Origami inspired by Dolls House furniture
Wednesday 17 and Saturday 20 September: Patchwork inspired by a World War Two Dress
Wednesday 15 and Saturday 18 October: Blackwork embroidery, inspired by mourning wear and ghost stories from Richmond Palace!
Wednesday 12 and Saturday 15 November: embroidered cards, inspired by postcards sent in World War One
Wednesday 10 and Saturday 13 December: Decoupage Christmas Cards, inspired by an embroidered copy of the Radio Times!
