Architectural historian exposes nuclear scandal in Algeria and its colonial legacy
Between 1960 and 1966, France conducted a secret nuclear programme in Algeria, including testing weapons and conducting experiments while they extracted natural resources. At The Mosaic Rooms, architectural historian and exhibition maker Samia Henni aims to lift the lid on this abuse by a colonial power, spotlighting its environmental and sociopolitical impacts.
Bringing together research with audio-visual material, including maps, photographs, film, documents and archival testimonies, Henni creates an immersive installation that combines oral histories with investigative reportage.
