Five contemporary printmakers: Paul Croft, Darren Hughes, the late Karel Lek, Colin See-Paynton and Ian Phillips.
As a prelude to the display of prints by Sir Frank Brangwyn RA (29 June – 28 September 2024), Storiel is exhibiting examples of etching, lithography, wood engraving, woodcut, and linocut by five contemporary practitioners: Paul Croft, Darren Hughes, the late Karel Lek, Colin See-Paynton and Ian Phillips.
The work by living printmakers is now seen in exhibitions and collections across Wales – the School of Art, Aberystwyth University has built up a collection of prints from the fifteenth century and specialises in recent printmaking. There are active printmaking centres at Wrexham, Aberystwyth and Swansea. Print workshops are taking place in many museums, galleries and schools; making the art of printing images a popular and accessible means of visual expression for people of all ages.
