Housed in former council offices, Bushey Museum and Art Gallery invites you to discover the artistic, archaeological and social history of the local area.
Established in 1993, this museum boasts a collection spanning over 200 years, making it the largest in Hertfordshire.
Bushey's artistic legacy
The museum's collection centres around the artistic movements that flourished in Bushey, such as the Monro Circle, a group of 19th-century artists who resided in the village. Visitors can admire their works alongside those of Sir Hubert von Herkomer, a renowned artist who established a prestigious art school in Bushey, and Lucy Kemp-Welch, known for her captivating horse paintings.
Rich social history
The museum curates displays that bring Bushey's past to life. Explore exhibits that showcase life during wartime and peacetime, learn about the products manufactured locally, including Bushey Heath lustre pottery, plus historic church silver, and costume and embroidery.
Get a pop culture hit
Don’t miss the cabinet filled with memorabilia from the iconic pop duo Wham! Both members of the duo, George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley, attended Bushey Meads School.
