Explore the Cathedral
Journey through the medieval Monks’ Dormitory and Great Kitchen while discovering the Cathedral’s superb collections in permanent and temporary exhibitions, where interactive displays bring the Cathedral’s past to life.
Guided tours
Take a guided tour to uncover hidden details and stories within the cathedral walls. Admire the spectacular Rose Window in the Chapel of the Nine Altars, or explore the Galilee Chapel, one of the few remaining Romanesque chapels in England and known for its original medieval wall paintings.
Climb the tower
Climb the 325 steps to the central tower for breathtaking views of the city and surrounding countryside.
On selected days, the Museum turns off its louder displays and increases light levels within the Great Kitchen, so those with sensory needs, particularly those on the autism spectrum, can benefit from this more relaxed atmosphere.

Cathedral visiting hours: 10am-4pm Monday-Saturday, 12 noon-4pm Sunday
Durham Cathedral Museum is currently closed on Sundays, please check the museum's webpage for the latest information. Last entry to the museum on a weekday is 3.30pm.
Exclusions and safety measures
Durham Cathedral's facilities for visitors including the museum, cafe, shop and visitor desk are closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Day and Good Friday.
