Milton Keynes Museum
With a National Art Pass you get
Milton Keynes Museum explores the history of the city, from ancient to modern, through a variety of interactive exhibits.
Although Milton Keynes is a new city, the museum celebrates the local area’s heritage through previous periods, from Bronze Age torcs to industrial machinery. Many aspects of 19th and early 20th century employment and domestic worlds are brought to life through hands-on exhibits, from shop fronts to a printing press, you can even try doing the laundry in a time before washing machines existed.
What to see and do
There's plenty to experience at the Milton Keynes Museum, you can travel back in time on the world’s biggest (now stationary) steam tram in the Hall of Transport, or operate an antiquated switchboard in the Telephone Gallery. Why not visit the Victorian Farmhouse or buy some penny sweets in the Street of Shops.
Outdoor activities
Located on the grounds of the old Stacey Hill Farm, there is plenty of space for younger visitors to run wild, including a play area for under 7s. Alternatively you could pick up a nature trail from reception and discover the wildlife in the hidden parts of the park.
With lots to see and do, it is suggested to allow two hours to get around the museum, but tickets last for a whole year, so if you miss something you can always make a return visit. Unfortunately, due to the age of some of the Museum’s buildings, some areas are not easily accessible for wheelchairs or pushchairs.
