Nestled within beautiful subtropical gardens in Penzance, this art gallery and museum offers a captivating journey into West Cornwall's rich artistic heritage and local history. Originally built in 1865 as a Victorian family home, Penlee House was transformed into a museum in 1949 and has since become a cultural hub.

Explore West Cornwall's artistic heritage

Penlee House is the only public gallery in Cornwall specialising in the art of West Cornwall. This includes a comprehensive collection of works by the Newlyn School artists, an artistic movement which flourished from the late 19th to the mid-20th century.

Look out for famous paintings like The Rain it Raineth Every Day by Norman Garstin and School is Out by Elizabeth Forbes, plus paintings by Walter Langley, Harold Harvey, Frank Bramley and many more. The gallery also showcases works by Lamorna Group artists and their St Ives contemporaries.

From 14 July until 29 September Penlee House and The Orangery Cafe will also be open on Sundays.
