Housed in a Victorian building designed by John Hayward, the Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery offers diverse collections of both local and international importance.

The Royal Albert Memorial Museum and Art Gallery (RAMM) is a renowned cultural institution. Located in Exeter in Devon, it was established in 1868 as a memorial to Prince Albert and houses a diverse collection of art, antiquities, and natural history specimens.

Explore a diverse collection

RAMM boasts a wide-ranging collection that spans centuries and continents. The antiquities collection features artefacts from ancient civilisations, including Egyptian mummies, Roman mosaics, and Greek pottery. Additionally, the museum's natural history collection showcases fossils, minerals, and taxidermy specimens from around the globe. It also houses displays of costume and textiles, natural sciences, numismatics and social history.

Art gallery

In addition to its natural history exhibits, RAMM houses an impressive art gallery. The collection features a wide range of works from renowned artists, including paintings, sculptures, and ceramics. Visitors can explore the museum's permanent collection or catch a temporary exhibition showcasing contemporary art.

Interactive experiences

RAMM offers a variety of interactive displays to engage visitors of all ages. Children can enjoy museum trails, dressing up as a roman, making a mosaic, climbing into a real WWII bunker and more.

The Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery won the Art Fund Prize 2012 for its magnificent multi-million-pound development project, which reinterpreted the museum's collection with cutting-edge curation.
