Rozelle House in Ayr is a base for both South Ayrshire Council's Museums and Galleries Service and the Maclaurin Gallery.

Nestled within the picturesque Rozelle Park, this historic house and its accompanying galleries offer a rich tapestry of art, history, and local culture. Expect exhibits, beautiful surroundings, and engaging activities.

Art exhibitions

The galleries showcase a diverse range of exhibitions, featuring both local and international artists. Explore objects, artefacts and works of art from the South Ayrshire Council collections, ranging from social and natural history to fine art, and art and crafts from professional and amateur artists and community groups.

Tam o' Shanter paintings

One of the highlights of the galleries is Alexander Goudie's magnificent series of paintings inspired by Robert Burns' famous poem, "Tam o' Shanter." This narrative cycle of 54 paintings offers a unique visual interpretation of the classic Scottish tale, a selection of the paintings is on display all year, with all 54 available to view online.

Ayrshire Yeomanry Museum

Learn about the history of the Ayrshire Yeomanry, a volunteer cavalry unit, through a fascinating display of artefacts, costume and memorabilia. Rozelle also houses the Maclaurin Gallery which features 20th-century and contemporary art.

Exclusions and safety measures

Entry will remain free of charge, however all visitors must pre-book a ticket for a one hour period; if you would like to stay longer you can book an additional slot.

Visitors are asked to wear a face covering whilst indoors.

There will be a one-way system in place that visitors must follow and there will be clear signage to direct you.

There will be hand sanitiser dispensers at each door way and we would ask that you use this upon arrival and regularly throughout your visit.

2m floor markings will be in place throughout the building and we ask that you maintain a 2m distance when inside.
