Sulgrave Manor
With a National Art Pass you get
The ancestral home of George Washington, Sulgrave Manor is a Tudor house with legacy that unites the UK and the USA.
Sulgrave Manor was home to the English ancestors of one of America's 'founding fathers', George Washington. Wander around the historic building and discover more about the history of the house and the people who lived there.
Restoration
The house was restored as part of the centenary commemorations for the Treaty of Ghent, which established peace between Britain and the United States of America after the War of 1812. The restoration was delayed by the outbreak of the First World War, but the house finally opened to the public in 1921.
Today you can enjoy period interiors and pretty gardens, including an old rose garden and even a Tudor vegetable garden.
Guests can also enjoy a bespoke accompanied tour and conversation with an experienced guide outside regular hours, booking required.
