Housed in a stunning Grade II listed building in the heart of Warrington's Cultural Quarter, this historic museum boasts a diverse collection that offers a fascinating glimpse into the past and present. From ancient artefacts to contemporary art and even a Community Sky Garden there is a huge amount to explore.
What to see
The museum's permanent exhibitions comprise nearly 200,000 objects, many displayed in the museum’s original glass cabinets. Discover artefacts from Ancient Egypt including mummies and sarcophagi, travel through the Time Tunnel looking at local and social history from the 19th and 20th centuries, or check out natural history specimens including a gallery dedicated to fish and reptiles.
Art galleries
The permanent art collection is represented in the Large Art Gallery with a rotating selection of artworks by internationally renowned artists such as Jan Van Os, Sir Frank Brangwyn and L.S. Lowry and artists who studied at Warrington School of Art such as Luke Fildes and Henry Woods. The Small Art Gallery displays a programme of changing exhibitions on subjects including art, science, history, fashion and more.

For families, the museum provides a variety of engaging activities. Interactive displays, hands-on workshops, and educational programs make learning fun for children of all ages.
