National Art Pass - Terms and conditions
Please read these terms and conditions carefully before submitting an application for membership, renewal or buying a membership as a gift. You should understand that by submitting the application online, by telephone or by post, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions and our Privacy Notice. These terms and conditions of membership should also be read in conjunction with the Terms of use of this website and mobile applications.
Art Fund is the operating name of the National Art Collections Fund (“Art Fund”), a charity registered in England and Wales with charity number 209174 and in Scotland with charity number SC038331. In these Terms & Conditions, references to “Art Fund” or “us” or “we” should be read as referring to The National Art Collections Fund.
References to “you” “your” “yourself” in these terms and conditions generally refer to any person purchasing a National Art Pass for their own use or to any person making use of a National Art Pass that was bought for them by someone else. Please note: if you are making use of an Art Fund membership after it was bought for you by someone else, then by your action you agree and accept that these terms and conditions apply between us.
1. Membership categories, eligibility and benefits
Membership categories and add-ons
1.1. Membership of the Art Fund can be obtained through the purchase/renewal/ receipt as a gift of a National Art Pass.
1.2. Annual membership of the Art Fund is available as Individual, Double, and Under 30. Lifetime membership of the Art Fund is available as Individual and Double.
1.3. 'Plus One' is a membership add-on that enables Art Fund members to visit with a guest so that both member and guest can gain free or discounted entry to the museums, galleries and historic properties included in the Art Map upon presentation of a valid National Art Pass with a 'Plus one'.
1.3.1. 'Plus One' is only available for annual memberships: Individual, Double, Family and Under 30.
1.3.2 ‘Plus Kids’ is only available for annual memberships; Individual, Double, and Under 30 and also offer member benefits to children in the family who are under 16 years old.
1.3.3. 'Plus One' and 'Plus Kids' must be bought in conjunction with an annual membership and cannot be purchased separately under any circumstances (To view the current fee of an annual membership with a 'Plus One' or 'Plus Kids' please click here).
1.4. Art Partners membership of the Art Fund is available as a Double Art Partner membership or Art Partner Plus guest.
Eligibility
1.5. You must be aged 18 or over in order to submit an application for membership or renewal.
1.6. Applicants and gift recipients of Under 30 membership must be 30 years of age or under at the time of purchase.
1.6.1. We may ask you at any time to provide documentation supporting your eligibility for Under 30 membership. Failure to provide the documentation requested within 10 working days will result in the cancellation of your membership, and any National Art Pass received prior to the cancellation of your membership must be returned to us.
1.6.2 Once the applicant/recipient reaches 31 years old, the full rate for Individual membership will apply.
1.7. Applicants and gift recipients of Double, Life Double, and Double Art Partner memberships must be two adults living at the same address.
1.8. Art Fund reserves the right to reject applications/renewals/gift orders for membership at its sole discretion.
Member Benefits
1.9. Membership of the Art Fund includes:
one or two named National Art Passes (depending on your membership category)
Art Quarterly magazine
Art Map publication and
Art in your Inbox fortnightly email communication.

1.10. Your named National Art Pass is proof of your membership and is non-transferable.
1.10.1 Individual and Under 30 membership categories include one named National Art Pass.
1.10.2 Double membership category includes named cards for two adults living at the same address.
1.10.3 When a 'Plus one' is added to an Individual or Under 30 membership, one named National Art Pass with a plus one admission will be issued to the member. The 'Plus One' admission will be valid until the membership expiry date shown on the membership card.
1.10.4. When a 'Plus one' is added to a Double membership, two named National Art Passes with a plus one admission will be issued, one for each adult included in the membership. The 'Plus One' admission will be valid until the membership expiry date shown on the membership card. Please note that it is not possible to add a plus one to only one of the two cards.
1.10.5. Double Art Partner membership includes named National Art Pass cards for two adults living at the same address.
1.10.6. Art Partner Plus guest includes one named National Art Pass card with a plus one. The 'Plus One' admission will be valid until the membership expiry date shown on the membership card.
1.11. Art Quarterly magazine is published quarterly in March, June, September and December. Each issue looks forward to what’s happening in the coming months around the UK and beyond, and comments on the events and issues of the day. It includes in-depth features, interviews, previews, news and opinion, by writers, critics, commentators and experts in the field, alongside details of every work of art that Art Fund has helped museums and galleries to acquire over the past quarter thanks to the support of its members and donors.
1.11.1 Art Quarterly is sent by post to active annual and life members and art partners during the first week of the month of publication.
1.11.2. Art Quarterly magazine is not available for sale.
1.12. Art Map is a publication that lists the museums, galleries and historic properties that offer free or discounted entry to Art Fund members as a thank you for Art Fund’s support.
1.12.1. Art Map is published annually and is sent to new members in their welcome pack.
1.12.2 Subsequent issues are sent with the Winter edition of Art Quarterly each year in the first week of December.
1.12.3. Art Fund cannot guarantee the accuracy of the contents of the Art Map. During the year, some venues may close temporarily due to events or refurbishments, or their prices may change. We strongly advise members to check with individual venues in advance for current opening times and prices.
1.13. Art in your inbox is a e-newsletter sent to members fortnightly. A guide to art across the UK with suggestions on how members can make the most of their National Art Pass, it also includes updates on Art Funds charitable work and activities.
1.14. Admittance to the Art Fund's Annual General Meeting is limited to active members who are able to show a valid National Art Pass on the day.
1.15. Art Partner membership includes all National Art Pass benefits and additionally invitations to a programme of events that highlight the impact of our work with museums:
1.15.1. Events invitations are extended to the two named individuals in the case of Double Art Partner Membership and the named Art Partner member with guest in the case of Art Partner Plus guest membership1.13.2. Events vary seasonally and can include artist studio visits, private views of major exhibitions, tours of private collections and a dinner with Art Fund Trustees.
2. Applications for membership, gifts and renewals
How to apply
2.1. Applications for new memberships and renewal can be made by completing our online forms at artfund.org, by post or by telephone.
Payment
2.2. You must not use borrowed, stolen or forged payment methods to make your payment. Should you do so, you agree to accept full responsibility for such action and to indemnify the Art Fund in respect of all actions, claims, damages, liability, fees, costs and expenses whatsoever that arise as a result of such actions.
2.3. When buying or renewing a membership for your own use, payment can be made by Direct Debit, credit or debit card. Life memberships and National Art Passes bought as a gift can only be paid by credit or debit card.
2.4. When payment is made by credit or debit card, the subscription fee will be debited either at the time of your application (when this is submitted online or by telephone), or on receipt of your postal application.
2.5. Where a membership subscription is paid by Direct Debit, we will notify you at least 3 working days in advance prior to any payment being debited.
2.5.1. If you wish to cancel a subscription, notification must be received by our Supporter Services team at least 5 working days before the Direct Debit due date to ensure that our records can be amended in time. Failure to provide such notice will result in the Direct Debit being claimed.
2.5.2. No refunds will be provided unless these notice requirements are complied with. If notice has not been given within the specified period and payment has occurred, you are still entitled to cancel your membership, but we are not obliged to offer you a refund. Any National Art Pass received prior to the cancellation of your Direct Debit must be returned to us.
2.6. Personal cheques will be accepted for postal applications for new memberships, gifts and renewals.
2.7. Please note that charity vouchers and other payment methods will not be accepted for membership subscriptions in compliance with HMRC guidelines.
Refunds
2.8. Membership of the Art Fund through the purchase/renewal of a National Art Pass is a form of charitable giving. Once a subscription has been paid and a National Art Pass has been issued, no refunds can be made.
Offers and complimentary gifts
2.9. The Direct Debit offer is for 12 months for the price of 9 (i.e. 25% discount) in the first year only as a Direct Debit payer and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offers. The full rate will be applicable after the first year discount. The Direct Debit option is not available when buying or renewing a National Art Pass as a gift, a Life membership or an Art Partners membership.
2.10. From time to time the Art Fund may run special offers to promote membership of the Art Fund. No bulk or third party entries are permitted and offers cannot be used in conjunction with any other offers or promotions. Where a personal invitation from the Art Fund has been made, applications can only be submitted by the intended recipient. Please ensure that you have read the specific offer terms and conditions before submitting the application.
2.11. From time to time, complimentary gifts are offered as a thank you to renewing members. These are only available to renewing members upon personal invitation whilst stocks last and cannot be exchanged for a monetary value.
2.12. Art Fund reserves the right to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, any promotion with or without prior notice due to reasons outside its control. In such circumstances Art Fund shall not be liable for any failure to comply with its obligations.
Art Partners
2.13. For Gift Aid purposes we are required to indicate that Art Partner membership comprises a benefits portion and a donation portion. The exact split of benefits and donation portion is specified on the checkout page online
2.14. Any donation voluntarily given above the agreed value of benefits will be eligible for Gift Aid and we can only accept payments via CAF or Charitable Trust for the donation portion of your subscription. US tax payers may also wish to support the American Friends of the Art Fund.
3. Delivery
3.1. Your National Art Pass(es) will be delivered to the address that you provide when you complete your application form.
3.2. Free standard delivery to UK addresses is by Royal Mail second class service. Applicants are advised to allow ten working days from the date of the application for the card(s) to arrive.
3.3. Express delivery to UK addresses is available for new membership applications and gifts bought online or by telephone, at a cost of £6.95. Express delivery service means that you will receive your National Art Pass(es) within 2 working days from the date in which your application was submitted. The estimated delivery date will be displayed at the time of purchase for online orders.
3.4. Free standard delivery to overseas addresses is by Royal Mail Air Mail. Delivery times vary depending on the location. Applicants are advised to allow a minimum of 4 weeks from the date of the application for the card(s) to arrive. Express delivery and Pre-order gift delivery to overseas addresses is not available.
3.5 Pre-order delivery to UK addresses is available for gift memberships bought online or by telephone, at a cost of £6.95. Pre-order delivery service means that the National Art Pass(es) can be expected to arrive on the date selected at checkout. The estimated delivery date will be displayed at the time of purchase for online orders. The selected date is not guaranteed and is subject to Royal Mail services.
4. Using your National Art Pass
4.1 Your National Art Pass is proof of your membership of the Art Fund. Members must have a valid National Art Pass with them to gain free or discounted entry to museums, galleries and historic properties included in Art Map.
4.1.1. Members that do not have a valid National Art Pass with them will be asked to pay the full entry fee and refunds cannot be given at a later date.
4.2. When admission tickets to venues are booked online or by telephone, the National Art Pass must be shown on request at point of collection.
4.3. National Art Passes are valid until the date of expiry shown on the card and are non-transferable.
4.4. Admission discounts and offers provided by the venues are subject to change from time to time. Where possible, changes will be published in Art Quarterly and on the Art Fund’s website artfund.org. We strongly advice members to contact the individual venues before visiting to prevent disappointment.
5. Replacements
5.1. Lost National Art Passes will be replaced once free of charge. Any subsequent replacement cards will incur an administration free of £5.00.
5.2. The Art Fund reserves the right to reject requests for additional replacement cards where at least two replacement cards have been issued within a period of six months.
5.3. A replacement copy of the last issue of Art Quarterly magazine and the current issue Art Map will be sent by post once free of charge.
5.4. Copies of older issues of Art Quarterly and Art Map cannot be provided.
6. Overseas applications
6.1. As Art Fund is a United Kingdom charity, all charges shown on the Site are in Pounds Sterling. If you are placing an application from outside of the UK your card issuer may convert the charge into your local currency.
6.2. This Site and these terms and conditions have been designed for use within the UK. Whilst we will consider applications from outside the UK, we give no warranty, express or implied, that the Site or the placing of any order through the Site from outside the UK complies with any applicable non-UK laws or regulations. Accordingly, any sales or services not permitted under your local law are not offered to you. Furthermore, we reserve the right to refuse any application at our discretion from overseas customers and we will have no obligation to provide you with any reasons for refusing an application.
7. Variation of these terms and conditions
7.1. The Art Fund reserves the right to vary these Terms and Conditions from time to time. Such variations shall become effective immediately upon the posting on the Website. These Terms and Conditions were last updated on 31 August 2022.
