Workshop

Walk & workshop: To resonate with time – a writing workshop with Sheyamali Sudesh

18 August 2024
2-4.30pm

Join Sheyamali Sudesh as we use writing and mixed media to root storytelling in our own history and local ecology.

Who lived here before us and what does writing about their lives reveal about us?

Taking inspiration from a walk in Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park, join artist Sheyamali Sudesh as we explore how we can root storytelling in our own history, local ecology and historical people in East London.

We will begin the session with a gentle walk through Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park, mapping out the botanical encounters and graves that resonate with us, discussing different possibilities of memories and histories held there.

Using these encounters as our starting point, we will explore fiction-ing in a broad sense, using writing exercises and mixed media to reframe the ways that we connect to our local park.

No writing experience required! Materials and refreshments provided.

The meeting point for this workshop will be at the Soanes Centre. The first part of the event will involve a slow walk through Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park, followed by a writing workshop back at the Centre.
