a talk with Zenzie Tinker
Tadek Beutlich’s Dream Revealed is a monumental weaving, crafted in 1969 from unspun jute, mohair and horsehair in his Ditchling studio. Exhibited at the Lausanne International Tapestry Biennale, this striking work has not been publicly displayed for over 50 years. After decades in storage, time and environmental factors took their toll, creating an urgent need for conservation.
Join leading textile conservator Zenzie Tinker as she shares the fascinating process of restoring Dream Revealed to its former glory for the exhibition, Tadek Beutlich: On and Off the Loom. With decades of experience - including work at the Museum of London and the V&A - Zenzie and her team at Zenzie Tinker Conservation have meticulously revived this fragile piece, ensuring its survival for generations to come.
This special talk offers an exclusive insight into the challenges of conserving large-scale textiles, from structural repairs to pest damage treatment. You’ll also have the opportunity to view Dream Revealed up close in the gallery, before joining Zenzie and her team for tea, cake and conversation.
Tickets include a glass of wine or cordial.
