Housed in brick-built barracks, Aldershot Military Museum tells the story of soldiers and civilians in the Hampshire town since 1854.

Established in 1984 by Brigadier John Reed, the museum invites you to explore exhibitions set in the original barrack buildings that were once home to the Royal Army Service Corps, Royal Army Medical Corps, Royal Corps of Transport and the Brigade of Gurkhas. Discover the local and military history of Aldershot and other nearby Hampshire towns.

Historic Hampshire

Discover the local and military history of Aldershot and the other nearby Hampshire towns of Cove and Farnborough, from their links to the pottery industry to how a flamboyant American piloted Britain's first powered flight out of Farnborough.

Military transport

On display are a number of military vehicles including tanks, armoured personnel carriers and other military vehicles. You can even take a turn in the replica scout unit after learning the basics on the driver training unit.

Outdoor adventure

There are plenty of family-friendly, hands-on activities on offer including a fantastic assault course inspired by real assault courses used in training during World War II, where little soldiers can test out their PT skills.

Go AWOL

If all that activity sounds a bit much, there is also a shop where you can browse a wide range of military and local history books, or why not sample some Ice Cream in the Cafe.

Why you should go

  • Take on the World War II-inspired assault course

  • Explore the collection of tanks and other military vehicles

  • Visit Field Marshal Montgomery’s Barn
