Bilston Craft Gallery
Featuring the best in contemporary ceramics, glass, jewellery, textiles, metalwork and woodwork, Bilston Craft Gallery is the largest dedicated craft venue in the West Midlands.
Bilston Craft Gallery showcases everything that makes the Black Country the place it is. From the incredible range of fossils and minerals, to the intricate cut steel jewellery and the Bilston Enamels, with a particular focus on craft-making.
Local donation
Established in 1937, the gallery's story began with a generous donation by William Thompson, a former resident of Bilston, of around one hundred paintings. Over the years, the gallery has continued to grow its collection through gifts and acquisitions, prioritising artefacts and artworks that illuminate the history and artistic heritage of the local area.
Showcasing modern craftsmanship
The gallery features a program of temporary exhibitions that showcase the works of contemporary craft makers, encompassing a diverse range of artistic styles and techniques. The museum also offers access to the vast Crafts Council Photostore, a resource containing over a thousand photographs documenting the work of British designer-makers.
Supporting local artists
The Bilston Craft Gallery isn't just about showcasing established artists. The gallery's ‘First Floor Gallery’ functions as a rentable space for both individuals and groups to exhibit their own craft and artworks, providing a platform for emerging local talents to share their work with the community.
Fun for young creators
