Opened in 1972, Impressions Gallery was one of the fist specialist photography galleries in the country. The focus here is on contemporary work and historical photography that sits outside of the mainstream – the gallery is dedicated to the idea of photography for everyone and have played a key role in how audiences consider photography.
Helping people to understand the world we live in, they present a programme of challenging and thought-provoking exhibitions, supporting the artists changing the landscape of photography today. Exhibitions particularly explore important socio-political issues including identity, race, gender and contemporary politics.
