The well-preserved interiors boast a fascinating collection of furniture, paintings, intricate needlework, fine plasterwork and the clever use of trompe l’oeil.
Glorious gardens
Surrounding the castle are planned gardens, designed by Thomas White during his visit in 1789. Follow the beech avenue to the jewel of the estate, the two-acre walled garden. Here, meticulously planned borders burst with colour throughout summer, showcasing a delightful mix of roses, vegetables, herbs, fruit trees and a greenhouse.
